Editor’s Note: Here are pre-season rankings of the nation’s best 2010-11 high school sophomores and freshmen as of 11-6-10. Six factors were considered in determining these rankings. They include: (1) accomplishments at the state high school championships (folkstyle) (2) performances at prestigious high school tournaments (3) National Junior Freestyle and Greco-Roman success (4) Cadet National Placement (5) information from coaches and parents (6) state from which nominees hail. Weights are projected and subject to change. An update will be forthcoming.

Magna Vista JV secures 2010 Piedmont District Football Title

Magna Vista's season final game against rival Bassett resulted in an impressive 41-7 victory, rounding out the season with a 9 win - 1 loss Junior Varsity record, and ranks them in 1st Place in  Region IV  AA  Piedmont District for the 2010 season.  Magna Vista's only loss was to Halifax Co. a AAA rated school.  Mounting up an impressive 300 points for the season, while allowing opponents only 81 scoring points for the year.

Mid Season Magna Vista JV: 8-1 Record

MVHS JV is 8-1 on the 2010 season with wins over:
     Heritage 7-0   
     Morehead 14-0   
     Wm Fleming 7-6   
     Franklin Co. 43-22
     Wm Campbell 35-6
     loss to Halifax Co. 20-28.
     Win over Martinsville  43-0
      Win over Tunstall HS -27-12
      Win over Patrick Co. HS  62-0


    


One more game on tap after an Open Week ,with Bassett H.S on Nov. 4th rounding out the regular season, we are looking forward to a successful completion of the 2010 season.

Off to a Great Start...

Second week into the Junior Varsity season, Magna Vista is now 2-0, with weather shortened win over Heritage 7-0, was called at halftime due to lightning.  On Thursday, September 2nd the JV squad scored 14 unanswered points for the win over Morehead 14-0.  Next week Magna Vista JV travels to Roanoke for a game with William Fleming scheduled for 6:00 pm at Fleming's New Stadium
