Logan Turner, Places 2nd in HWT Finals in

7th Annual "BIG BLUE" Wrestling Tournament @ Christiansburg High School.

January 20-21, 2012

Logan Turner, Sophomore, from Cave Spring H.S. Roanoke,Va. was seeded 3rd in tournament, behind #1 ranked Mike Jones (Sr.) of Botetourt H.S. & # 2 seed Allen Chappell (Sr.) of Rockbridge Co. H.S.

Turner entered the tournament with a 2011-2012 H.S. regular season record of 29 wins-6 losses and all indications were that he would finish, as seeded.

Having a bye in the 1st round, Turner, went on to tally 2 wins, by pin over Rodney Hearse (Soph) from Salem H.S. (Pin: 1:25) & Corey Pollard (Sr.) Eastern View H.S. (Pin: 2:52) to enter into the Semi Final round as underdog to Chappell of Rockbridge Co. H.S.

Early in the Semi Final round, Turner suffered a near knock out blow, having been slammed, face first into the mat, by Chappell, but Turner quickly recovered to make a spectacular come back to finalize the upset victory over Chappell with a 3rd period PIN (5:52) over the #3 ranked, State "AA" HWT from Rockbridge H.S.

Turner went on to the Finals round against #1, State "AA" ranked Mike Jones,(Sr.) Botetourt H.S. , but fell short by the win by Jones, by Pin 3:36. Logan Turner places 2nd in 2012 "Big Blue" Invitational

With his "Big Blue" tournament victories, Turner improves his Sophmore, regular season record to 32 wins - 7 losses, and his  overall High School regular season record to 77 wins - 18 losses.
On to the " BIG ORANGE" tournament at William Byrd H.S., next weekend, January 27 & 28, 2012
